Until a player signs a contract, it is really tough to know exactly what his offers were. That point was driven home Tuesday with Manny Machado.
The report of an eight-year, $250 million offer he got from the White Sox might not be accurate, according to Fancred Sports.
Have heard reported offer of 250M for 8 yrs for Machado by White Sox isn’t right. May or may not be close, but guess would be that at least today it’s a bit lower. Higher than 175 but lower than 250. At least at moment. (So yes, we still don’t have facts, just educated guesses.)

And while that report may be off, another report’s potential contract numbers appear to be inaccurate as well.
ESPN and USA Today reported that Chicago offered a seven-year, $175-million deal to Harper. Those reports prompted a harshly worded statement from Machado’s agent calling the numbers false.
The deal appears to be somewhere in the middle, according Fancred’s “educated guesses” and “(a)t least at the moment.”
The Yankees reportedly offered Machado an eight-year, $220 million deal, so odds are pretty good the number from the White Sox is somewhere around that range — but no one knows for sure what it is at the moment.
