This year I’ve been tracking whom the top draft experts rank as the best players in the 2019 NHL entry draft.
For the consensus Top 50 players in the draft, you can go to my list on GoogleDocs, which I update as the draft experts update their own lists, just as TSN’s Bob McKenzie did today.
There seems to be a group of four players at the top of the draft, Jack Hughes, Kaapo Kakko, Bowen Byram and Alex Turcotte.
After that there’s a group of seven forwards, with the experts agreeing in strong fashion that they’re the next seven best players, but divided on which of the seven are the best.
Those seven players are Trevor Zegras, Dylan Cozens, Vasili Podkolzin, Kirby Dach, Peyton Krebs, Matthew Boldy and Cole Caulfield.
The Edmonton Oilers will get one of those seven forwards, I strongly suspect, though it’s possible they could take the consensus 12th pick, Philip Broberg, a player whom some scouts love but other scouts only like.
