Seahawks QB Russell Wilson looks unrecognizable in Madden NFL 20

One of the new features in the Madden NFL 20 video game is something called the “Superstar X-Factor.” Certain elite players will have their own abilities that give Madden users that extra sense that they are in control of a superstar.

I’m not much of a gamer these days — I’ve probably exhausted my “ESPN NFL 2K5 is the greatest NFL simulation of all-time” takes — so I’ll let the folks at EA Sports better explain what “Superstar X-Factor” entails.

“At launch, there will be 50 players in Madden 20 who have Superstar X-Factor Zone abilities. These Zone Abilities can be unlocked during gameplay by completing objectives tailored to that player. Find out more about each Zone ability, which players have them, and how to trigger and counter them below. “

Seattle Seahawks superstar quarterback Russell Wilson is one of those 50 players who’s got abilities that most other quarterbacks simply do not.

Wilson gets “Blitz Radar,” “Escape Artist,” “Dashing Deadeye,” and “Agile Extender” on his docket. To get through them in order: Wilson is able to identify extra men on the rush post-snap, can scramble out of danger quickly when behind the line of scrimmage, make great passes outside the pocket, and have a higher chance of avoiding a sack from a blitzing defender compared to other QBs.

Sounds pretty fun!

Now we need to address why the hell EA Sports’ graphics have Wilson looking like this. I have no idea what is going on here, both how he looks facially and why his wrists are mangled.

Twitter has taken note of this debacle, with many likening him to San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo.

This is the worst Madden rendering I’ve seen of a member of the Seahawks since Pete Carroll turned into a 174-year-old man back in Madden NFL 18.

Anyway, Madden NFL 20 is set for August 2nd, so if you’re itching to buy this game and play as Russimy Wilsoppolo, you’ll be able to play it before the Seahawks even have their first preseason matchup.
